Killer boots!
2010年9月2日 (木)
Hey up everyone! How is it going? Sapporo is HOT at the moment, is it really September?? It seems to still be August. This week I have been internet shopping. I`m not a fan of internet shopping because you never really know what you are going to get, a picture can be very misleading. I decided to buy some killer boots. I told my friend that I had bought some killer boots and he looked a little shocked. I explained to him that killer meant "amazing" or "awesome" and he responded "English is hard!". Sometimes I forget how difficult it for students with slang and different dialects. Anyway, I`m stoked (very happy) to have killer boots - lets just hope they fit!!! Have a great week everyone.
Too touristy?
2010年8月31日 (火)
Howdy folks ~ Hope everybody has been enjoying this sweltering summer heat! I`ve had an eventful August. I hiked in Taisetsuzan for four days with some friends, without injury or rescue. I did a car/camping tour of eastern Hokkaido, hitting Lake Akon, Onnetto, Kusharo and then Shiretoko and Abashiri before heading back to Sapporo. I have to say, though, that Shiretoko was a bit of a disappointment...It`s renowned as one of Hokkaido`s most beautiful areas, but all I really saw was lots of construction walls, convenience stores and tetrapods along the coastline. It`s as if the entire peninsula has been bonsaied into a tourist attraction...not a whole lot of unspoiled natural beauty remains. Why have people allowed this to happen, I wonder? Sorry if I sound negative, but for me Shiretoko was way too touristy. Taisetsusan was much prettier!
Is summer coming to an end?
2010年8月25日 (水)
Hello everyone!!! Welcome back! It has been a great summer (there is still some left but it is fast finishing). I went on a bicycle tour for my summer vacation. I did it solo and went to Rishiri, Wakkanai and back to Sapporo. It took me 5 days but I spent 2 days camping on Rishiri because it is such a beautiful place. I cycled over 140km a day, but it wasnt so hard because the area was quite flat. I really enjoyed camping and cycling as well as meeting some really great people. Going by myself was something I`ve always wanted to do and feel I achieved something. However my next tour will be with friends!!! I`m such a wimp when it comes to insects and when I was camping in Rumoi there were some MASSIVE insects. They really freaked (scared) me out. What freaks you out?
Holidays
2010年7月27日 (火)
Hey everyone! How are you all doing? Today I`m thinking about the great question "What are you going to do during the summer holiday?". I guess everyone is thinking about it. I still don`t know where to go. Now I`m thinking of some solo touring on my bike, maybe Sendai and Fukushima area. Do you guys have any plans? I hope some people are going to take a trip and use some English because you all have been studying hard, its time to enjoy!!! Whatever you do this summer, i really hope you enjoy it. If you have the chance, tell me about it! Have a wicked summer.
Summer Garden
2010年7月21日 (水)
I sure love summer! I love the long, warm days, swimming at the beach, and not having to wear layers and layers of clothing. Another great thing about summer is my garden. I've been eating out of it for the past month, and it's fantastic. So far I've harvested cucumbers, turnips, zucchini, a couple kinds of leaf vegetables and lettuce, and a variety of herbs. The tomatoes are still green but they should turn red and sweet any day.
