A Late Happy New Year
2010年1月18日 (月)
Happy New Year, everyone!
I hope you had a nice, relaxing holiday. Mine was a bit busy, but fun. On Christmas I cooked a big American style Christmas dinner with my family. My dad and I cooked all day. We had turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, pumpkin pie-the works! It was delicious, especially since I hadn’t had a traditional Christmas dinner in over four years! The Sunday after Christmas I was able to get away from Sapporo to go to a hot spring in Jozankei with a friend. It was very relaxing-I love hot springs! My New Year’s Eve was uneventful. I had a quiet dinner with a friend. We ate delicious food, drank champaign, and watched the New Year specials on TV. At midnight we had a countdown and hailed the beginning of 2010 with a lovely bowl of toshikoshi soba.
I have great hopes for 2010. I even made some New Year resolutions: To become healthier and lose a bit of weight, to really start studying Japanese again, and to start saving money! So far, I’m disappointed with my lack of motivation in keeping my resolutions, but it’s only January, so I suppose I can consider it my one-month grace period before buckling down and getting serious about making positive changes in my life 😉
May you have a peaceful and prosperous year!
Sincerely,
Luella
