British class system

2018年1月3日 (水)

Hello everyone. Recently, one of my students asked me about the British class system. For those of you who don’t know about this, in the UK there has been a long established class system. If you are a lord or lady, or just the king/queen of your own middle class kingdom, everyone in the UK seemingly fits into this historic system. It is something that I have grown up in and haven’t really paid much notice to (as someone who is classed as middle class, i.e. both my parents work in white collar jobs), plus I haven’t been in the UK for a few years. Basically the class system comes down to three main factors; wealth, education, and occupation.  Anyway, I would say that this system isn`t as important as it once was however it still is very much part of the British culture. I wonder if Japan has a class system?
