Cockneys Versus Zombies

2018年4月9日 (月)

Well I don’t always watch classics, and this definitely wasn’t one. However a film set in London with Cockney actors being attacked by zombies just had to be watched. So I sat down in the peace of a Friday night and was amused. It was actually a half decent movie. The acting was a lot better than I was expecting and the plot was both ridiculous and highly entertaining. Being a comedy it hit most of the right buttons, using cliché, parody and slapstick with verve and still managing to keep the plot moving along. It was let down by some cheap CG but overall it hit the spot, a light, funny, horror comedy with larger than life characters and some very silly set pieces. Not a great work but not a bad B movie either. I wouldn’t pay to see it but it wasn’t a bad way to spend an evening.

Set in – the location of the story

To be amused – to be entertained

Half decent – quite good, not so bad

Ridiculous – stupid, not logical

Cliché – A story that has been copied many times before.

Parody – to make fun of something

Slapstick – physical or visual comedy

Hit the spot – was satisfying
