Donuts or Doughnuts?

2018年12月13日 (木)

The correct spelling of the word to describe the ring-shaped cake made of dough and fried in fat is “doughnut.”  However, this word is simplified by many people to the easy to spell word “donut.”  Personally I like the simplified spelling of the word becuase it’s easy and quick to write.

Speaking of donuts, the American donut chain “Krispy Kreme” has opened in Sapporo in Pole Town between Odori Station and Susukino Station.  That is very exciting to me!  I haven’t tried the donuts yet, but I will try them as soon as I get a chance.  I wonder if Japanese people will like the overly sweet American style donuts???
