Downton
2017年7月10日 (月)
Sometimes I need a little bit of England in my life and this does the job magnificently. Downton Abbey is a TV drama that took the U.K. by storm. It is the story of an aristocratic family and the various ups and downs of their privileged lives. The story is a slow burner but well worth sticking with, and the costumes and locations are exquisite. At times a little contrived yet it manages to keep the audience desperately wanting more. A binge watching monster, I highly recommend, however the English is somewhat dated so be warned.
Review score 10/10
To take by storm – to become popular very quickly
Aristocratic – The richest level of people / born into wealth
Slow burner – Starts slowly but gets better and better
Exquisite – perfect in every way, beautiful
Contrived – Been done before, lacking origionality
To binge watch – To watch a complete TV series without stopping.
To be dated – No longer used
