Long time no see!

Hey everyone.  Have you ever met someone who you know but completely forgotten where you first met them or their name? Recently I bumped into someone I had met at a BBQ about a year ago and I had completely forgotten her name! This is totally out of character for me, I am usually very good with names. In my defense, I only met her once, at a BBQ in Otaru. Perhaps my memory is getting worse? I like to think that I know so many wonderful people that I sometimes forget a name. What do you do in this situation? Are you honest and say that you forgot their name? Do you honestly say that you forgot? It is a dilemma. In this case, I honestly told her that I remembered her but her name had slipped my mind. Luckily, I remembered that she had a dog whose name was Mochi, so I saved myself by asking about Mochi…phew!  Anyway, if you have a good strategy to get out of this sticky situation, please let me know!
