Hello everyone! Today I want to talk about Sherlock, a British TV series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle`s Sherlock Holmes detective stories. I just love the TV show, particularly because I love Benedict Cumberbatch (could he have a more British name!) and Martin Freeman. To me, Sherlock should be quite a weird character and Cumberbatch plays him amazingly. I sometimes watch the American TV show “Elementary”. In this TV show Dr Watson is played by a woman which is interesting. If I am honest, I do not like the dynamic between Sherlock and a female Watson. The thing I love about the BBC version and the American version is that both put Sherlock in modern times. The original Doyle character has been changed to fit modern times which makes me feel more involved in the story. Both series expand and modernize the work of Doyle. However I think Elementary takes the characters to an almost unrecognizable place, which I have a problem with. I love how the British version keeps the core of Doyle`s character and twists it just enough to be pure genius. Some people love Elementary but I am 100% team BBC for the more faithful adaptation. Whichever version of this amazing book you like, please keep watching it.
