The first snow!

For the last few weeks I have been asking students to “bet” when the first snow will fall in Sapporo. Last year the first snow fell on about November 20th. Because it was my first winter in Sapporo I remember the day well. I was very excited! This year I am not so excited because now I know how long and cold Sapporo’s winter is. Most students bet that the first snow would fall in the middle of November. I guessed it would happen on the 8th of November because it’s my sister’s birthday and I thought it would bring me good luck! So, I was very surprised when the first snow fell on October 26th! However, two of my students will be very happy because they guessed the right day. Congratulations Rumiko and Mieko!
