The land of kitkats

2018年2月19日 (月)

Hey everyone. Recently, I was putting together a care package for my friend. A care package is a box of goodies that you send to someone who you care about. Anyway, I was preparing mine and I went to the supermarket to pick up some chocolate. As a chocoholic, I always know the best snacks to get but this time I was shocked at the number of kitkats available and the flavors.  I know that in some stores there are specialist kitkats for tourists, the ones in posh boxes but I saw run-of-mill kitkats in a wide variety of flavors. For example now there are two different types of green tea kitkats (I didn’t investigate the difference between the two, though. Maybe someone can tell me). I really was taken back the choice. I came across a breakfast type kitkat, which had granola on it… a biscuit for breakfast? This is new to me. Anyway, the sheer variety of kitkats got me to thinking, does everyone in Japan like kitkats? When I go over to my friends apartment, they never have kitkats, I guess Pokki is more popular. Of all my friends, I seem to be the only active kitkat eater, so I wonder, who is buying all these crazy kitkat flavours. If you know the answer to this, let me know!!
