Goldfish!

Last Sunday I had a good experience.

I went to a goldfish exhibition at Sapporo Factory. I saw hundreds of colorful fish in artistic tanks. There was also music and lighting to complete the exhibits.

One of the tanks was shaped like a Japanese folding screen.

I heard about this event from a friend. When I went, I was surprised by the beauty and atmosphere. I ended up spending over an hour looking around at all the fish. I recommend this exhibition for anyone who likes art galleries, and for anyone who likes looking at animals.

The exhibition will be held until January 19th in the 1-jo Kan of Sapporo Factory.

Christmas!

Hey everyone! I hope you are all wrapped up warm and enjoying December. I love December because it is christmas and christmas to me means a time to celebrate friends and family. This time of year I get cards from all my friends all over the world and I feel really special to have met such great people. The only downside to this month for me is the number of parties that happen. I will fly back to England in two weeks and my schedule is full until then! Christmas is always crazy busy but crazy fun.

The way Christmas is celebrated in Japan is very different to England, in fact it is the opposite. In Japan Christmas is a time for boyfriends and girlfriends to have a date and new year is a time for family, I guess in England, its the other way around. I always spend Christmas with family and new year with friends. Whatever way you celebrate christmas/new year I really hope you enjoy it.

Health and sports day

Hey everyone! Just a reminding note that Step Up is closed tomorrow until Friday. That means we will see everyone on Friday. Today is a national holiday, it is health and sports day. All of my students today seem to have spent the day relaxing, which I think is great! I heard that there are some healthy life style events happening around Sapporo. I think it is great that Japan celebrates and educates about health, it might be the reason that people live so long. I didn`t have the chance to go to the gym today but I will be going over the next 3 days, so worry not!

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Yes, autumn has come again to Sapporo!
This is my favorite season for a lot of reasons – the weather is comfortable, the air is clear, and the food is delicious. I’ve been spending as much time as I can outside lately, riding my bicycle and also walking in the park.
Sapporo has a lot of really nice rivers, and I think this is a great time to walk or ride along them. In the past few weeks I’ve ridden along Hassamu River, Toyohira River, Shinkawa River (should I say New River?), and a few smaller ones.
Soon the weather will be too cold to go out – so enjoy nature while you can!
