Has anybody gotten a haircut recently? When was the last time you changed your hairstyle? For the first time in 4 years, I buzzed my head (髪型ぼうぞにした). A lot of my friends and students were surprised by my decision to alter my hairstyle so dramatically, but I didn`t really understand what the big deal was? It`s just hair – it grows back, right? I think it`s good to change things up a bit. Why not cut your hair short after having it long for a while, or vice versa? Life`s short – experiment with your hair! It`s not a big deal – at all – to change your appearance once in a while. In fact, it`s one of life`s little pleasures, in my humble opinion. So get out there and go crazy! The more color and diversity we display on our heads, the better.

Going for a drive

Do you like to drive? I love to drive! I like to go for a drive whenever I have a chance. However, I don’t like to drive really long distances at one time. Five hours in one day is enough for me.
Friday is my day off, so I decided to go to Lake Toya. The drive was really nice, especially in the mountains, because of the beautiful fall leaves. Lake Toya isn’t so far from Sapporo, so it’s a pretty easy drive.
If you have a chance, I recommend going to Lake Toya sometime in the next couple of weeks to view the colorful leaves of autumn!
Next time I want to drive to Shakotan. Have you been there? Is it beautiful, too?

It‘s Autumn!

Well hello everyone!!! Autumn has come and the weather is pants (British English bad). However I refuse to be depressed about the cooling down and the rain.  There are lots of things to enjoy about October, firstly it`s the month of Halloween.  Halloween is one of my favoirte holidays.  Secondly there is the Ocktoberfest in Germany, so I am sure Hayden (old step up teacher) is enjoying himself.  Im sure there are lots of things to enjoy this month.  I hope everyone has a great October.  Also it`s an exciting time because there is a new teacher at Step up (drum roll…….) Joe! Welcome to the team Joe!!!!!!

New to Sapporo

Hello everyone!  Thank you for the warm welcome to Step Up and to Sapporo.  I`m very happy to be here.  I just moved to Sapporo last Saturday and I started working at Step Up from Monday.  I have enjoyed all my classes here so far.  Everyone has been so kind.
I think Sapporo is a great city, but I don`t know much about it because I`m new here.  Please tell me what you like to do in Sapporo and what places you like to go to.  I`m looking forward to my life here!

Running

Happy September everyone! I hope you`re enjoying this Indian Summer (小春) weather. The days are still warm but the nights have cooled down a bit, perfect weather for running! Do you run? I`m entered in the Sapporo marathon next month to run the half marathon so recently I`ve been training by doing several runs a week. To be honest, I find running a bit boring. However, it`s a nice way to forget your troubles and enjoy the therapy of good excercise. I always feel good after I finish a run and take a shower. Usually I run about 10kms, but I need to increase my distances if I want to set a good time in the half marathon. If I can finish in under 2 hours then I`ll be pleased. Anyhow, I hope you`re able to take advantage of this beautiful weather while it lasts – not too much longer before the snow hits!!!
