Summer Flu??

Hi everyone! How are you? I’m ok now but last week I had the flu (influenza). I had a fever, headache and sore throat. People usually get the flu in winter so it was unusual for me to be sick. Anyway, I’m pretty much back to my usual self this week. Have you been sick this summer? I hope not!

Hi Everyone, I`m back at Step Up again, after almost five weeks and countless miles and ailments. I`ve seen the Himalaya, mountains of garbage in the streets of kathmandu, had x-rays in Lhasa and hiked the Great Wall of China, again. How was your obon holiday? Hi everyone, did you all have a good summer holiday? My holiday was tough, but enjoyable! Two friends and I went to Wakkanai by train, then took the ferry to Rishiri and Rebun islands. After returning to Wakkanai, we cycled all the way back to Sapporo- a total of about 400 kilometres. We used the coastal road, and camped every night in places like Teshio and Hanamatsu. The trip was great fun, but very tough on my legs. I also got very sunburnt! Finally, we went to the Rising Sun Rock Festival and some some good bands play, including Kemuri and Dragon Ash. After coming home from the festival, I slept for a long,long time!

Hi everyone, How was your Obon summer vacation? I spent most of mine at the beach, namely Dream Beach near Otaru and Shakotan beach areas. It was so nice to swim in the ocean and relax on the sand. I even camped for a night at Shakotan and went night swimming! The sky was so beautiful and I saw many shooting stars. What did you do for Obon?

Last week I climbed Mt Fuji with my parents. This wasn’t my first time to climb Mt Fuji, so it wasn’t very exciting for me. But my parents enjoyed the climb. We started at 9:30 in the morning and reached the top by about 16:00. Going down was much harder though. I didn’t have very good shoes. We reached the 5th station where our car was at about 18:30. It was a nice day but I forgot to put on sun screen and burnt my face completely. I guess the high altitude and the thin air made the sunbeams stronger. Now I’m peeling skin off my face every day. I was hoping to come back to a cool Sapporo summer but this week has been crazy hot too! Even hotter than Tokyo last week! Have a nice Obon vacation and don’t forget to put on sun block this summer!!
