Friendship

2010年1月22日 (金)

Hey!!! How is everyone on this cold, cold Friday? I`m definitely feeling the winter!!! So recently I`ve been going to the gym, quite pathetically attempting to get fit.  However the more I work out, the more I want to eat…..AGGGGGGG!!!! One of the great points of going to the gym rather than runnning around the park (other than the obvious benefits of warmth and no snow) is that I can make some new friends.  The gym is a great place to talk to people who work in different fields and to practice my japanese.
I am wondering how long I will keep up this health kick…. place your bets 😀

A Late Happy New Year

2010年1月18日 (月)

Happy New Year, everyone!
I hope you had a nice, relaxing holiday. Mine was a bit busy, but fun. On Christmas I cooked a big American style Christmas dinner with my family. My dad and I cooked all day. We had turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, pumpkin pie-the works! It was delicious, especially since I hadn’t had a traditional Christmas dinner in over four years! The Sunday after Christmas I was able to get away from Sapporo to go to a hot spring in Jozankei with a friend. It was very relaxing-I love hot springs! My New Year’s Eve was uneventful. I had a quiet dinner with a friend. We ate delicious food, drank champaign, and watched the New Year specials on TV. At midnight we had a countdown and hailed the beginning of 2010 with a lovely bowl of toshikoshi soba.
I have great hopes for 2010. I even made some New Year resolutions: To become healthier and lose a bit of weight, to really start studying Japanese again, and to start saving money! So far, I’m disappointed with my lack of motivation in keeping my resolutions, but it’s only January, so I suppose I can consider it my one-month grace period before buckling down and getting serious about making positive changes in my life 😉
May you have a peaceful and prosperous year!
Sincerely,
Luella
A Late Happy New Year

New year for shopping!!!!

2010年1月12日 (火)

It`s only 2 weeks into January and I`ve already blown heaps of money shopping. After weighing up the pros and cons, i FINALLY decided to invest in a mac computer.  I am super happy about it, however the only problem is that I dont relly know how to use it!!!!!! Slight cog in the works. So this week Im going to be going through Mac tutorials and learning how the devil the thing operates.  I hope everyone is enjoying the sale period and not going too crazy (like me :S ).  Have a good week x

Happy New Year!

2010年1月5日 (火)

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wicked break. I went snowboarding and pulled a muscle, so I`ve been resting up and eating yummy chocolate oranges (a British orange shaped chocolate).  One of the highlights of my vacation (I`m slightly ashamed to say) was watching AVATAR. It might be the best movie I`ve ever seen at the cinema.  I heard it was going to be good, but usually that type of movie isnt my cup of tea. Anyway I definitely recommend it (watch it at sapporo station because its the only one with 3D). Anyway, I hope everyone made some new years resolutions, Ive made about 20, so hopefully I can stick to at least one!!!!! Have a good one x

Let`s shred 2010!

2010年1月5日 (火)

Hey folks! Happy New Year! So this year I thought I would write a few diary entries that teach a bit of good old Western slang. Today`s word is SHRED! Now, the word shred literally means: to tear or cut something into small pieces. We put shredded cheese on pie crust to make pizza; use shredded potato to make croquets, or shred important paper documents so strangers can`t read the information on them. But shred is also commonly used as a verb when doing a sport like snowboarding. Imagine a big white field of powder snow, with no board tracks through it. Then imagine your snowboard is a big knife. As you ride through the snow, your snowboard cuts lines into the powder. You`re shredding the snow. And the faster you go, and the more turns and jumps you do, the harder you`re shredding. Hayden, Kim and I often shred together. Actually, I`ll be shredding Teine tomorrow! So, if you`re a snowboarder or skiier, I hope you get out there and shred it up. Whatever you do this year, try to shred your hardest and it`ll be a good year;)
