grrrrrr its COLD!!!!
2009年10月9日 (金)
Well it would appear that the season has well and truely changed!!! Im rocking a scarf these days, just to protect myself from the dreaded flu! (or a cold). Im looking forward to the end of the month because ill be jetting off to a warmer climate. Im going to Australia, it`s my first time. I don`t think it`s super hot there because its the start of spring now, but fingers crossed for some sunny beautiful weather!!!! The summer this year in Sapporo was so short that I blinked and missed it 🙁 I need some sun!!!!! Hope everyone is wrapping up well and avoiding sickness 😀
It's fall again
2009年10月3日 (土)
Hi there everyone,
It’s been along time. I can’t believe that fall is upon us all ready. The leaves are turning color and the air has been to cool. Thankfully the skies are clear, because our summer here was terrible. Hopefully I can make it into the mountains one more time to go hiking.
Can you recommend any good mountains to hike near Sapporo?
An update
2009年10月1日 (木)
Hi everyone, how are you? I’m doing alright. I had a pretty good summer, although the weather was not so great. There were a few nice, sunny days, though. My younger sister came to visit me for a month from the end of July to the end of August. We had a good time together. It was nice to see her; we hadn’t seen each other in two years! We went to the beach, did some hiking and did A LOT of shopping-my sister really likes Japanese fashion. And we spent a lot of time just talking and catching up. We even went to the Odori Beer Garden a few times, and to some of my favorite Izakaya as well.
My garden this year did so-so because of the poor weather conditions. As you know, it was cloudy and rainy and a bit cold throughout the summer, so a lot of things didn’t grow well, and didn’t produce until later in the season. My most successful harvest was the tomatoes and zucchini. In the earlier part of the summer, the tomatoes weren’t very sweet due to all the rain, but last month they did very well, and became very sweet and delicious. The zucchini didn’t seem to have any problem with the bad weather and produced all season. Unfortunately, the vegetables I was most looking forward to-my Jalapeno and Poblano peppers-didn’t do so well. Oh well, maybe next year…
Another Summer Gone
2009年9月19日 (土)
Ah, I think it`s safe to say summer is over…but I don`t feel like it ever really came. It rained so much during June and July it felt like it was monsoon season! Nevertheless, I still had a rocking time – especially learning to surf at Atsuma. Have you ever tried surfing? It`s way harder than snowboarding, but really fun at the same time. Give me a couple of years and I might be able to actually stand up! Anyhow, let`s hope we have some nice clear days for hiking, camping and watching the fall leaves this autumn. Until next time, take care:)
Not so summer hike
2009年8月17日 (月)
Obon has come and gone. I hope everyone had a good holiday, whatever you got up to. Jon and I had planned to do a 5 day hike of the Daisetsuzan National Park. Everything started well and we made it from Asahidake to the Kurodake camp area in good time and enjoyed some amazing scenery along the way. As we started to pitch our tent the rain started to come. We were advised by the staff at the hut not to continue our hike. This was because the forecast for the next two days was very heavy rain. After the recent tragedy in Daisetsuzan, Jon and myself decide to call it a day on Day 2. Lets hope next year will be better weather and we can complete our challenge.
