SUMMER
2009年5月28日 (木)
Hi everyone. There are lots of great things about living in Sapporo, but the truth is, I hate the cold. I have lived in colder places than Sapporo, but I have also lived in very hot places, and I absolutely prefer the latter of the two. Needless to say, I am VERY happy that summer finally seems to be around the corner. I planted some vegetable and herb seeds in some trays in an East-facing window (in truth, the only window) in my one-room apartment over a month ago, and they have grown quite a bit. A friend of mine has lent me some space in his garden, and I am really looking forward to transferring my seedlings there soon. There is nothing like vegetables picked fresh from a garden one has tended oneself, with love and care. I love mexican food, so I had my grandmother (who lives in the state of New Mexico in the U.S.) send me the seeds of two different varieties of pepper: the Jalapeno pepper, which is quite spicy, and the Poblano pepper, which is mildly spicy and has a wonderfully rich flavor. I am also growing tomatoes, coriander, arugula and basil, so I will have all the fresh ingredients I need to make delicious Mexican and Italian dishes throughout the summer. I hope you have a great summer, too. There is so much to do and enjoy in this season!
FAMOUS!

Hey guys! Long time no write. Today I a little excited because our picture is in the Hokkaido Shimbun! Recently things have been a little crazy for me because ive decided to move apartments. I want an apartment near a park for my dog, so hopefully (fingers crossed) Ill be moving next week!!!! My dog is getting big now, but he still hasnt learnt a lot of tricks, so if anyone has any advice on dog training, let me know :=)
Spring!!
2009年5月19日 (火)
Hey folks ~ how is everybody doing? Finally, after weeks of warm then cold then warm then cold again temperatures, it seems spring has fully come. Did you attend any cherry blossom parties? I was in Bali for golden week and by the time I returned, all of the blossoms had fallen in Maruyama Koen. Oh well…it couldn`t be helped. Anyhow, I`m looking forward to spending some time outdoors and perhaps going camping in the next few weeks. Make the most of the warm weather while you can – winter comes quickly here in Hokkaido!!
Slightly over the snow
2009年2月23日 (月)
Hey everyone, how are you all? Hope you`re you :-). This week the snow has really been falling!!!!! I woke up early on saturday and had to dig my car out of a mountain of snow. I think the position of my car was kind of unlucky, the wind stacked the snow against it. It was a PAIN THE NECK!!! Finally my lovely neighbor came out and helped, although Im not sure what advice she gave me because she spoke sooooooo fast! I`ve been feeling over the snow recently, although only IN sapporo, not at the mountain. Wouldn`t it be be perfect if the snow we had to shovel magically moved to the mountain and made extra powder?!!! I can dream……
long time no write

Hey everybody! Let me wish you a very late Happy New Years and a not so late Happy Valentines Day! I hope you`re having a good 2009 so far. Just to catch up a bit I`ll tell you what I`ve been up to. Well, I went home for Christmas and New Year`s, which was a lot of fun. Spent my birthday on an airplane back to Japan, which wasn`t very fun. I`ve been snowboarding lots (when there`s actually snow falling…strange weather, this year), enjoyed the snow and ice sculpture festivals in Odori and Susukino, and just last weekend saw my buddy get married in Maruyama! So I guess it`s been a good year so far. My next goal is to go to Bali over Golden Week so I need to start planning for that now. Any suggestions?
