Winter humdrums

Has the winter got you down? Are you hoping the rays of sun that have appeared lately are coming to burn away the winter hum drums? I love winter, so I hope it never leaves. But still, it is nice to have some sun isn’t it? Anyway, I and a large group of friends are going to Rusutsu ski resort this weekend to try and find some more snow. I’ll let you know more about it when i get back.

Hi everyone, I’m very excited because tonight I’m catching a plane to Australia for my wedding! My wedding day is March 31st but I have a lot to prepare before then. I hope I don’t get the ‘wedding blues’. I can’t believe that March has finally arrived. It seems like only yesterday that my fiance Ben proposed to me. Thank-you very much to all the Step Up students who gave us wedding gifts. We were so happy to receive such lovely and generous gifts. Take care and I’ll see you when I return in April.

Doll Festival

One of my favourite festivals in Japan is the Doll Festival. I love going to department stores and looking at the doll collections. The costumes are so beautiful. Do you decorate your house with dolls? I was told that if you don’t celebrate the festival your daughter won’t get married. Although we don’t celebrate the Doll Festival in Australia, we also have many superstitions about getting married. Maybe I am lucky because next month I’m going to get married.

Hi everyone! What unusual weather we’ve been having? Last night, Sapporo experienced extremely strong winds and heavy snow showers. The wind howling through my apartment building sounded like a screaming child. It was kind of creepy – just like a horror movie! At one point, I woke up in the middle of the night because the wind was so loud. This weekend, I’m going to stay in Rusustsu and go snowboarding. I hope it snows but the wind I can do without!

Hi everyone, how was your weekend? I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. I had a good weekend. On Friday, I went to the snow festival in Odori Park, which was interesting. I particularly liked the large snow sculpture of two dogs and a whale! On saturday, after work, I went to Lake Shikotsuko to see the fireworks and ice festival. It was very nice, though bitterly cold! I love the mountains in winter, with their snow caps and crisp, fresh air. I think one day I`d like to live in a log cabin somewhere in the Hokkaido mountains!
