wow... it`s a hot one today!
2008年6月23日 (月)
Good morning everyone! What a beautiful day it is today, isn`t it? I looked out my window and felt the need to update my ipod with some summer TUNES! Maybe a little bit of the beach boys or some ting ting tings. Anyway, this weekend I went to a wedding. Im still shocked the differences between Japanese weddings and British weddings. Most of the women wore dark dresses, I wanted to wear a colourful dress but my friends advised me against it. However I must say I much prefer the food at Japanese weddings, its much healthier. Well I had a great great weekend. Hope you all did too. Remember- the sun burns, dont forget your suncream today!!!!
Roasted!

I`ve been enjoying the sunshine this week, and getting into the summer groove. We`ve found that the riverbanks of the Toyahira river are nice places to while away a warm afternoon. Recently, I`ve been spending quite a bit of time down there. Last week, we had a BBQ there while playing some football, and this week I played tennis on one of the public courts. The only slight downside to all this activity is sunburn- I`m toasted!
Salsa hodai!

What do you like eating in spring and summer? It seems yakisoba gets pretty popular during the festival season in Japan. Well I don’t know about you, but when summer bbq and picnic season is in full effect, I’m going psycho-salsa-stylee!!! Here’s the recipe for: Jon’s Super Salsa!( For those of you who don’t know what salsa is, just follow this recipe to make your own! – 20 chopped red cherry tomatoes – 1 chopped red onion – 1 can of blackbeans – 1 cup fresh corn – 1 oz lime juice – 2 oz basalmic vinegar – a dash of white pepper and salt, – a few drops of habenaro sauce – 1 chopped peach or mango – fresh chopped cilantro ~ Mix everything together in a big bowl and eat immediately! Use tortilla chips for spoons to eat your salsa and wash down with Mexican beer(don’t forget the lime!!). Hope your summer is chocked full of salsa goodness! Enjoy.
What has happened to the weather?!
2008年6月6日 (金)
Yesterday was a beautiful day but today it has just rained and rained. I was stupid enough to think I could ride my bike to work. I thought it would have cleared up by the afternoon but it hasn`t. I feel sorry for the dancers in odori park – i hope the weather clears up for them tomorrow. Is anyone going to watch the dancers this weekend? I think its really interesting, I like the hand clappers they use. Well, fingers crossed for a sunny weekend.
Sayonara!!

Well, this will be my last diary entry as I’m leaving Japan next week! Before I came to Japan, I only intended to stay for a year but I have enjoyed it so much that I’ve been here for 3 1/2 years!I’ve loved living here so much and I will miss many things especially the food, snowboarding, and of course, the many friends I have made. Thank-you to all my students – you’ve been wonderful. And thank-you to Step Up – the best English school in Sapporo!! Sayonara!!!!
